The most beautiful thing about this set is that it contains the 1970-D Kennedy half dollar which i needed for my Kennedy half dollar set :smile
I had to cut out the Kennedy.... Which is something i didnt like much to make a hole in my new set..... but now i have a Complete Kennedy half dollar 1964-1985 set My First completed USA set :u*meY:
I know that it might be easy for most of you especially US collectors to complete this set but i live in Egypt and never been outside, this means that i am about 11000 Kilometers from the nearest US coin shop :smile
Congratulations!! Completing that set is a great accomplishment! I remember the fever around the 1970 mint set and the 1970-D Kennedy. In 1971, the price for that shot up towards $50 -- although it's quite a bit cheaper today. After buying a 1968 and 1969 Mint Set from the U.S.Mint, for some reason I decided not to buy the 1970 Mint set, stupid me! It's also interesting but I've noticed the mintages of late year Kennedy's starting to fall off to around the mintage of the 1970-D, are those available through roll searching, or are they only sold directly by the mint in the direct ship program.
Congratulations on completing the set! I would never have known you were from Egypt by the way you talk, but if it will make you feel any better, one of our esteemed Russian members is about 12000 MILES from the nearest US coin shop. Chris

Let me add my congrats also. Don't worry about cutting up mint sets, we do it all the time over here. They made over two million 1970 sets so I'm sure we have plenty more. Just look at it as since you now have extra coins from it, you have the starts of four more sets.:thumb:
I have placed the cartoon button used to fill the 1970-D hole in the folder instead of the coin and i will add it to the US mint and proof sets i have. I dont think i will remove any other coin from the set as i do have all these dates in other collections that i am working on (Roosevelt, Jefferson and Lincoln sets) may be not in mint condition but they will do. I am about to complete The statehood quarter series ( 4 coins short) so hopefully when the package i am waiting for reaches Egypt safely i will be able soon to post about another achievement :smile
