Does anyone here opt for the secure plastic delivery option? It is and extra $20 annualy, but I am considering this option when my subscription comes up for renewal.

    Comments anyone?

I receive my copy via regular US Mail. I just received my latest edition today. It was mailed May 31st. Today is June 11th. That is 12 days for delivery. My copy arrived intact today. Every couple issues, the issue will come with a torn cover. A couple of times the post office has taped the cover back together, and I have also seen the post office ink stamp the issue with something like "damaged in shipment".

Does anyone else have problems in receiving their Coin World promptly and in one peice?

    Just curious...

At my last renewal I opted for the plastic bag.
I found that it slowed the delivery time WAY down so I canceled that option.

And I had the same delivery time/condition problems that you have, but have seen a slight improvement.

I was having a serious problem with issues arriving damaged, with pages torn and missing, etc. About a year ago I upgraded to the blue bag option and I chose that option again when I renewed last week. For me it is the only way to go and worth the $20/yr.

Having nothing to do with the packaging, but still worth a mention, my local coin dealer advised me to consider purchasing the magazine from a shop as opposed to subscribing. He told me that having it delivered to my home might be an advertisement to the world.. FWIW

Or have it delivered in a nondescript, opaque wrapper.

Thanks for the info. I have until September to make up my mind. I believe my issue is being shipped third class mail. I do not really fault Coin World for this, because they give you an option/choice to receive it first class. I think the fault goes to the US Postal Service. :( I realize that I can go online and read it, but I guess I am just old school. I like carrying it around the house and rereading articles. It always seems like I miss things the first time going through it. I like having it in my hands. When I am done with the issue, I pass it along to a buddy who enjoys it as well. It is a really good read. I always go to Mr. Bowers op/ed first. That is the first thing I read. :)

  8. I really like their Digital Edition. Every quarter, you also get an abbreviated collection of issues in the mail (with nondescript, opaque wrapper of course). TC

I've been thinking about subscribing to Coin World. I pick it up at my local bookstore. They never get them on time. So subsequently whenever I go to look something up in an ad it's already sold. My hesitation was that I didn't want to advertise to the whole neighbourhood I'm a collector... but if the bagged version takes even longer I think I'll keep supporting my local book store. But out of curiousity does anyone get it delivered to them in Canada and how do they find the service?

I have also thinking about getting it! I might subscribe the same time that I become a member of the ANA! :smile

  11. Is there an option for discreet packaging for The Numismatist? Mine comes in the mail for all to see and it really bugs me.

That's what I do and no problem with the quality. Plastic wrap (this was posted earlier in thread) should have no bearing on delivery as they most likely do that right after printing.

Is it really worth it? I ask since I get a couple of regular magazines like this and never consider them collectible so don't worry about the condition in which they come. Celators, though, I keep since they are collectible in their own right. I guess if NN or something comes damaged I simply do not care since its getting tossed in a couple of days.

I really don't know too much about the Kindle. I haven't heard that the Numismatist Magazine app is available for the Kindle but you can probably check with the ANA. As for Coinage magazine I have a digital subscription through a company called Zinio. They make an app for my iPad. You can check their website www.zinio.com to see if they have something similar for the Kindle. For the Coin World access, as an ANA member, if you the Kindle supports PDF format I don't see why you wouldn't be able to access it.

Does that mean you can access the previous years data, or for one year you can access them back as far as they go? and if it's the latter how far back do they go?

My understanding is that it's one year going forward. At this time there is no option to view back issues. At least none that I've seen.

OK, thanks. What I want is to be able to access back issues. Especially issues several years old.

I would not pay $20 extra to receive a numismatic publication. Coin World is high priced enough as it is.
