1936 wheat penny

    I was hoping that someone would be able to give me a idea of what exactly happened to this coin. I am not sure if it didn't get clad properly, or if it was exposed to extreme heat or what caused it. I am a bit baffled about it though.

    I would of took a better picture for the back end but it wasn't possible.

    Ps: Back from a very long absence.

    Cents have never been clad. Zinc Cents (mid-1982 and later) are zinc with a thin layer of copper plating. In 1936 Cents were bronze and the planchet was homogeneous (meaning the alloy was the same throughout the planchet).

    Fair enough I am still new at this. So any ideas whats wrong with it? There's a awful lot of silverish color showing.

    Some kind of post-Mint damage (PMD). It could be mechanical damage, chemical damage, heat damage. I don't know.

    Random but yes, I usually do sense I am kinda afraid of germs. XD
