Nice looking coin I hope you don't laugh too hard at my question. What is the denomination of this coin?
A beautiful denarius, great reverse! What a nice lookin' quadriga, another great example mat, I see you have gotten into the Roman Republican coinage, an area I still have yet to touch.... not that I don't like them.
Another really nice unusual Republican Mat. Very nice and interesting. I always love Victories and how a lay person think its cool an ange is on a coin. People do not appreciate how much of our Christian iconography is pagan related. Btw Collect89, its not a bad question at all. The only way to know the denomination was to recognize it as a Roman Republican, and know the date this was minted they were struck as denari. Earlier coins would have been a different denomination. That is how I knew it was a denari. Chris
Nice coin. It is interesting how we usually prefer Republican coin types that are not the ordinary Roma heads and victories riding in chariots (biga, quadriga). I suppose a proper collection would include examples from each type but it is harder to get exited about a coin that differs from others only by the lettering when we have variations like this Jupiter.
