I Have Never Seen One Like That Eaither So There Could Be A Good Chance That It Is A Vary Rare Coin How Much Do You Thank My Coin Could Be Worth?also I Have A 1865 3 Cent Nickel With Repunched Date +clashed Die With A Lil Hint Of Doubleing On Letters Know Anythaing About It? + I Got A 1965 Offcenter Doubled Struck 25cent Coin Like To Larn About Let Me Know Thanks Clarence
I don't think it would be called rare in the way that you are thinking....sure there might only be a handfull of them out there....but to many collectors its not a coin they need. If I was looking at the coin I would be willing to pay about $25-$30 for it more than likely. Speedy
It definitely appears to be a Clashed Die! It appears that the Buffalo's rump section can be seen sticking out between the Indian's chin and lips. There are many factors that could affect the value of the coin! One is of course the grade and strike of the coin. Another is whether the coin is one of a kind or whether it is listed in some Variety book. And another is how bad and how much a Collector is willing to pay for the coin for their' Collection. In any case, I believe that there quite a few Collectors that would definitely want the coin and would be willing to pay a fairly nice premium to own it but without previously sold specimens, a value would be fairly hard to determine. Yea, I don't think you can retire on that. Clashed dies unfortunately appear quite often in error numismatic field. What would be much unusual if you had a combination of let's say, clashed dies and offstrike, which would dramatically raise the value.
ohh, it’s hard to say. The die’s used in the 3-cent nickel coins where tortured. Cracks, doubling, worn die are common. I’d like to see a pick. Some time the planchet gets stuck going in or going out of the press and bamm your quarter got hit twice. I’d say it’s worth $75-$500. The price verys greatly on the eye appeal and what someone is willing to pay for it.
if you like i could send you a pic by email would that be ok with you? if so just give me your email an i will , thanks
if you go to wwww.coinfacts.com/nickles/five_cents.html that have some really good pictures and there's a mention of 1913 liberty nickles(if that's what it turns out to be) and there is supposedly only 5 that are known of... total
Is that what happend to this quarter in the ebay listing below? It went for a pretty penny: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8389042952&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
The quarter in the ebay link is either a dropped letter error - or a fake. No way to know for sure without examination. If it's genuine, they are rather rare. The Buffalo nickel in question is likely the result of clashed dies - an entirely different type of error and one that is rather common. There is no comparison between the two.
