Actually I am kind of sworn to secrecy about it. The information comes from the next issue of The Score, the early date census. The census is a "give to get" publication that is only made available to members that provide data on their collections so I can't provide detailed information. (It used to take a 150 variety collection to be included in the census. It's a little more lenient today. If too many small collection try to join just to get the information the restrictions might be tightened. There are currently 22 collections that surpass the old limit and 7 more close to the 100 variety level.)
I guess I was close to the second group with 98 varieties. But I'm sure that none of mine would reach CC levels. I think my S-61 is just short of CC quality. ps I assume you were just talking about Early dates. I have 31 Middle dates as well.
I was EAC Member #1799 on three occasions. They keep letting me take my old number. I would do this, but I am currently disposing of my collection through Rick Beale (aka 900fine). I have found the numismatics more interesting than collecting and decided to get them out there while I was around to do it. My kids don't have the knowledge or desire to clean up after me. If they would take photos, I could send them those.
Here are several more, Marshall, if you enjoy this. Don't feel obligated. Those you already attributed helped a lot. I took your notes for each one and updated my inventory. Lance.
As difficult as this is I think I can get the 1806 - lots of work - but I believe S-270. PS - Anybody reading this I am kidding, there is only one variety for 1806 - S-270.
The 1805 is S-267 - blunt 1 and PHL(point of highest leaf) left side of S. 1807 S-274 perfect date, mount at sta, phl midway between E and S. 1809 S-280 again only one variety. 1810 S-282 1811 S-287 (not the overdate so only one variety).
No I'm afraid the census doesn't work from photos, sorry. I was just hoping to add another collection.
I see Mark already helped out. I enjoy attribution so don't hesitate to ask. I'm not online everyday so don't be surprised if it takes a few days.
Just wanted to throw my opinion out there, but the hair on top of the head looks like s-184 to me which is a much more common coin than the s-182.
Beef1020, It's always a good idea to have a second opinion. I had gone with the S -182 because it looked like the spacing at IB was too close together. After your comment, I looked again and you may be right. The spacing at IB and the bald spot may be distorted by wear. The gap at ER also looks more like the S-184 than either the S-182 or S-183. The HWH does appear to be just left of the upright of R rather than just right of the upright and the 9 does appear to be just a bit lower than the 7. Good call!
I didn't look at it until now and it is clearly S-184. The highest wave of hair under the R is too far left and the die chips at the upper left corner of the 7 are clearly visible.
