Hey guys i just noticed this 2000-P Sacajawea dollar coin and it looks much more silvery in color compared to the other 2000-P goldish looking coin i have. Could it be missing some kind of layer? Thanks Image198.jpg Image195.jpg The pictures do not display the full silver color it has on it and it is mirror like. It is the one on the right.

You ever find any answers on this. I have an unopened roll from 2000 where a silvery one is on the edge. Mine shows no golden color what so ever

It seems this coin has a pure copper core, so missing the outer layer(s) should not make it look silver in color, IMO !

    Is It Really Gold?

Both the Golden Dollar and the SBA are clad coins, sharing a three-layer composite construction, with a pure copper core sandwiched between and metallurgically bonded to the outer layers of alloy material. The overall composition of the new Golden Dollar is 88.5% copper, 6.0% zinc, 3.5 % manganese, and 2.0% nickel. The coin's composite construction provides security features that allow machines to distinguish it from slugs, tokens, and foreign coins.

Maybe it is struck on a 1999 SBA planchet ? I'm not too familiar with these useless modern coins....

That's the only real possibility if the coin is not a Chinese counterfeit.

Is it possible that someone dipped it in something? I do know that the Mint had problems the first year with the coins turning an ugly puke greenish-brown.
