I have a 2006 north dakota quarter that is copper on one side and the other side is normal looking, the quarter was giving to me in change so it was in circulation I am just trying to get feel for how much it is worth any info would be great.
Evaluating these coins is a bit tricky. There are several factors which enter into the equation, and all factors are subject to wide variations. First there is eye appeal. To be valuable, an error coin like one with a missing clad layer has to knock your socks off. To keep coins in such beautiful condition, owners usually send them to professional coin encapsulation services like PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG (don't use other services).FULL EYE APPEAL, FULLY UNCIRCULATED, IN NUMISMATIC SLAB: ONE SIDE MISSING ENTIRE CLAD LAYER Dimes: $200 Quarters: $300 Half dollars: $500 Ike dollars: $600 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $300 ONE SIDE MISSING PARTIAL CLAD LAYER Dimes: $100 Quarters: $150 Half dollars: $250 Ike dollars: $300 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $200 TWO SIDES MISSING ENTIRE CLAD LAYER Dimes: $400 Quarters: $500 Half dollars: $800 Ike dollars: $1000 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $700 CIRCULATED COIN, DULL, WORN, DARK COLORS: ONE SIDE MISSING ENTIRE CLAD LAYER Dimes: $20 Quarters: $30 Half dollars: $50 Ike dollars: $60 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $30 ONE SIDE MISSING PARTIAL CLAD LAYER Dimes: $10 Quarters: $15 Half dollars: $25 Ike dollars: $30 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $20 TWO SIDES MISSING ENTIRE CLAD LAYER Dimes: $40 Quarters: $50 Half dollars: $80 Ike dollars: $100 Susan B. Anthony dollars: $70 These ballpark values are for retail sales to collectors. If you have such a coin and want to sell it to a coin dealer, figure the dealer will offer your about one-half retail value.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...6FiMfMM6GRrR5Vyy6L%2BaOzaOD8%3D#ht_500wt_1156 2002 Mississippi State Quarter missing Clad Layer Item condition: -- Sold For: US $525.00 was not in a slab an was a circulated coin
But the seller said he got it out of a bag of Mississippi quarters from the Mint-- meaning that it was supposed to be uncirculated.
Yeah i missed that. @calisdaddy lets see some pics I have one too. Trying to gather information on. http://www.cointalk.com/t179386/#post1197031
I found this 2001-D Kennedy in a $100 Mixed P&D Mint bag when they were first released late in 2004. I submitted it for certification in January, 2005. About the same time, another one that was also found in a Mixed P&D bag sold uncertified on eBay for $555. These are the only two known for this date/mintmark. I prefer to keep it, but if I did decide to sell, I wouldn't take anyuthing less than $1K for it. Chris
I also have a 2006 North Dakota quarter that is copper in one side and not the other. The ring around the quarter is also raised more than normal.
