A guy came in and paid for some gas with a few silver certificates and some change so I bought the silver certificates from the drawer, not that they're in great shape by any means but still cool. Took a closer look at them and noticed one was a 1935 G star note. Sadly some ink pen picasso did some doodling on it but I still think it's cool.
very nice score I would take a silver certificate for a dollar any day especially a star note! nice pickup congrats
nice. looks like a little kid had it... sirfordster, what are you looking for here? I ask because I do not know myself...
Yep, what does with or without motto mean? I'm more of a lurker on this forum but I always try to soak up information
Here is a link that tells about the Motto: http://americanhistoricsociety.com/products/1935-and-1957-Silver-Certificate-Motto-Set.html
like it says in the link, the 1957 series was the first with the motto. so, any series 1935 (a through z) would not have the motto.
The 1935G and 1935H were being printed at the same time as the 1957 Silver Certificates, so there are some 1935G & H notes with the "In God We Trust" motto. 1935G Star serial number *10440001G thru *19080000G should be without the motto, and serial numbers *19080001G thru *20160000G should have the motto. Your serial number indicates your note should not have the motto. For further information, check here; http://www.uspapermoney.info/history/1957.html
