i recently received a 2010 proof set. the lincoln cent has what looks like extra metal in front of lincoln's face, giving the appearance that he is spitting. i can't find any information on this phenomenon, or if it is a real error or not. the 3 others i have do not have this issue. hopefully, someone knows more about this than me. thanks.
Images would help a lot. With the Zincolns several things could be possible. Bubbles under the plating/orange rind from poor rinsing before plating/field abrasion during polishings/or something else. An image would help to see what is there.
I Found a half dollar like that and at first I thought it was cud but I found more of the same so it thens out that it's die crack.the area that its in does not increase value by much. But I would love to buy off of you, if your looking to sell it. Worth a a few bucks.
But he was correct. Lincoln cents are sometimes called Zincolns due to the fact that they are 99.2% zinc (1982-present, that is.)
Roosevelt's are actually a fun set. Especially, the 46-64 coins. Many can be found very nicely toned and it can be a lot of fun putting together a high grade MS set...especially if looking for toned examples. It's not extremely expensive, but it's not cheap either.
