I have a package from the UK sitting in customs in Chicago since Dec 4. Is there a contact number or email I can reach them at.
I have a package that came from China. It's been somewhere waiting for me to pay a $1.39 customs fee. They want me to give them my VISA info to pay before they would deliver it. The package is a $10.15 collar for my little chiweenie. It is DHL. Is this how they usually do business? With the warnings I've got about all of the scams from IRS and others, I can afford to lose the $10.15. A year ago, I got an email from "Microsoft" saying that I needed to update my account, which was about $149 to renew it. It sounded legit, so I gave them my credit card number. They scammed me out of over $1,500 for that and another charge against my checking account. I went to the bank and was told that they could not help. Sorry Jack!!
Customs can clear things whenever they want and take however long they want . There could/likely be a paper work issue causing it but other than that two weeks really isnt very long
Wish you the best @Rushmore. I know its a terrifying feeling, after hearing stories of shipments getting impounded sometimes. My last shipment from Austria got hung up for a couple of days, I was fearing the worst, then it just got released for no reason. From what I can tell they never opened the package, so I don't know what that was about. Give it a little more time before your mind goes to darker places.
I won’t relate the personal experience I had with them years ago but customs are the most ignorant of all federal employees in my book.

Anyone buy coins from China? I keep getting emails from DHL. I'll give them the $1.38 to deliver it to my mailbox.
It’s against the law for anyone but you and the postal service to use your mailbox. If your carrier finds anything in your mailbox they have the right to remove, take it back to the office and then charge you the cost of shipping the item to yourself. And you’ll have to go pick it up as they won’t deliver it to you.
Now that is entirely too broad of a brush. I have received dozens of packages of authentic Chinese coins from China. To say ALL coins from ALL sellers from the largest nation on earth simply cannot be true. Now, I would never expect to buy old US coins from China and have them be authentic, and I am sure that is what you meant since I believe you are mainly a US collector, but many of us who collect Chinese coins deal or have dealt with Chinese sellers. Just wanted to clarify that.
Anytime you say all of anything its not going to be true. But it absolutely would be true to say that most coins from most sellers from China are fakes. China is literally where the mints making all the fakes are located and is the counterfeiting capital of the world for all goods. I'm US and world. Even with Chinese coins, doesnt change the fact they are heavily counterfeited as well. China can literally legally counterfeit anything they want to sell to foreigners. There's obviously real Chinese coins being sold as well, but anything shipping directly from China is the biggest red flag there is in numismatics unless its coming directly from the PCGS or NGC office
