And I am down to the 53-S

So, I got ebay happy and bought this 53 P. Overall I'm happy with it, most notably the bell lines. One thing I'm not satisfied with is the neck/jaw area. Didn't realize it was that bad, and I'm sure its grade is affected quite a bit by it, but how much I'm now exactly sure. So, I was hoping for an MS 63 example...think I got it? Now, if I can find a decent 53 S I'll be finished with those Franklins and ready to upgrade!

Sorry if the close up of the bell lines is too wide. I was just guessing on size.

Nice pickup! Looks like it has some nice luster on the coin.

It has a good shot at 63. I have a couple that went 65 with similar marks in the same area of the jaw and neck.

    Good luck with it.

I would say it would easily go higher than a 63 IMO.

  7. That is easily an MS63. I think it might even go MS64. PCGS might give it an FBL but definitely not NGC. Congrats! TC

Nice looks like a 64 easy , don't know if itr would get FBL status , maybe from PCGS not from NGC though . NGC mqakes you have both sets of lines full .

Thank you all for the kind replies. Since I started the set I've been modifying my standards...started AU, then MS 60, now MS 63. Overall, I'm very pleased with the coin, especially since it was a raw ebay purchase. It's just so darn hard to find a decently detailed 53 or 53 S. Still, I think she's a keeper for the Franklin portfolio.
