Arrived yesterday and is stunning. The proof finish looks good on this coin and is a first (usually reverse proof). These are exclusive to Asset Marketing Services (GovMint.com & NewYorkMint.com) they are official distributers for many world mints and also develop exclusive world coin programs and other medallic programs like the stunning Smithsonian $100 Silver and Gold Unions. I have purchased some items off and on from them since the early 90's back when they fulfilled orders for companies like The Washington Mint, and while they are expensive, the product quality and presentation is perfect. I dont mind the price for exclusively offered well presented items.
Coin is very nice and govmint does have great quality items, yet if you do not want to spend $799, they can be purchased right from the perth mint for about $460 (and shipping is free). They are not certified, but I am sure many would be PF-69 if you were to get them graded. www.perthmint.com.au This link should go right to the coin: http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/australian-koala-silver-coin-silver-proof-coin.aspx
Thanks for the link. But the link refers you to New York Mint and ordering direct from Perth is Unavailable. This is an exclusive GovMint/ NYM product. If you run the population report on the coin at NGC you can see that they have graded almost 5000.
Nice pick up. Congrats! I collect the 1 ounce silver Koalas and do like it in 5 ounce, but that is priced way too much over spot for me. These make the ATB 5 ounce P coins seem reasonably priced. TC
Yesterday, I was able to make the purchase directly from the Perthmint site, yet I believe they had very limited quantities of just 300, so they must have sold out as the item is now listed as unavailable. Govmint purchased most of the coins, and it looks like all of the coins govmint purchased were certified by NCG, and the ones that they are selling are either in PF-69 or PF-70 condition. I generally hate to pay for an item that much over spot, but I just took a risk on this item thinking that because of the extremely small mintage, they have a chance to become a decent investment.
Yeah the GovMint version is pricey but its cool...I just buy what I like with no concern over investment or resale. To me its like jewelry...precious metal value is only a small part of the development cost. The proof finish of this piece is jewel like.
Hi mkwelbornjr. This coin look spectacular. Just wondering if you got the original presentation box and cardboard outer when you got this coin, or just the slab and COA ? Regards. Graeme
Just the slab and COA and anice velvet pouch. This is a GovMint product arranged through Perth Mint. The few that Perth Mint sold was part of the deal I imagine.
