Just lucky I guess. Was breaking down a BU collection yesterday from an old clear vinyl album that is notorious for turning into green slime. Fortunately, this one was unaffected. Saw the reverse first and recognized the depression as evidence of a clash event. Sure enough after turning the coin over the obverse confirmed it. Once I established the clash I started searching the web for any other occurences as this was the first clashed Mercury dime I have encountered. I found this thread and thought it would be fun to share the image of this very fine example. Heritage has only 7 clashed Mercury dimes in its archives but none this significant. Does anyone know how common clashed Mercury dimes are?
