This must be the week - found a 1912 British penny over the weekend in a box of H's.

I'm setting up my QX3+ microscope this week, and I am going to start posting some pics of the odd balls I find.

Yeah, I was just making a joke... seems like lots of people buy one of those things and all of a sudden think every other coin they look at is a DD.

Nah, just an easy way to take clear pics of the weird stuff found in rolls...

It is, I keep stalling on buying one... need to do that sooner or later. Not this paycheck, between my CC bill and some Merc Dimes, I've already spent all of it. Maybe in a couple weeks.

    I saw this thread earlier:

My New Source of Coin Photography (lots of photos!!!)

    Here's the 'scope mentioned:

    2MP USB Digital Microscope

I have an old Intel Play QX3+ gathering dust, so I figured it would be cool to put it good use again. :)

We'll see what I come up with this week...

I'm too lazy to click through, it's the $30 ebay one, right? That's the one I'll be getting sooner or later.

    Another lousy day...no Silver.

Tonight I searched a box of Halves and $100 in dimes. Nada!

Lunch was already posted, but I serched close to $800 between halves and dimes and got zippo! Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Okay just got thru my 2 best boxes ever roll searching halves.

    Box 1:
    13 40%ers
    2 90%ers
    1 1990 Irish Pound
1 1977 clad Kennedy counter-strike with "1960" to the left of Kennedy's neck, and "1985" to the right of his neck, the coin itself is a gold color. Anyone know what this is?

    Box 2:
    20 40%ers
    3 90%ers (one was a Frankie! :) )
1 Irish Pound, forgot the date, I gave it to my friend.

So in 2 boxes my totals were
    33 40%ers
    5 90% ers (one was a frankie)
    2 Irish Pounds
and the strange 1977 gold counter strike Kennedy

    Answered my own question here:

I got these all from the same bank. I stopped at this branch last night after remembering that the teller said she could order me halves about a month ago. This was before I had an account there. Last night she said she would have 2 boxes for me by fluke, the weren't supposed to get that many. I'm fairly sure this is all she had, (she had 6 total to begin with, but the other 4 were for I think 2 other customers). Regardless I will check tomorrow if she has more already. On top of that she said she will order me a box every Tuesday!

Whatever site you linked, I've never even been to and I'm banned there?

Really? I just found it on google when I searched to find out what that coin is. I've heard of treasurenet but I've never even looked at it until now. Let me see if I can find another one, or I'll try and scan a copy of my coin.

Well, I had some good luck today! I stopped into my favorite bank and asked for halves as usual. One of the gals knows me by face, so she starts digging them out when I walk up. She only had 3, and said "I dunno if it is anything good, a 1976, 1999, and a 1967, that's all I've got." Well, ofcourse I nabbed them (I always do.) That is my 3rd 40% (all 1967s, oddly enough) in roughly 5/6 weeks and maybe $28 worth searched. However, the over all picture is something like 3 40%ers in $200 searched.

In some other news, I did get my first Barber! It is a 1914 dime. I would say in G-4 at best. No biggie, I mostly bought it because I don't have any Barbers yet, and also for the silver content. Paid a little over melt for it. I will post a pic in the appropriate forum, sooner or later =P

    Pictures of 1977 counter-strike & 1812 Portuguese w/ '64 I found a few weeks ago.

Well looks like I finally remembered how to add pictures again...:D

You can faintly see the 1960 above "IN GOD" and the 1985 above "TRUST"

    Just thought I'd share....

Quick question. I've decided to start looking harder for WAMs and maybe CAMs. I know to look for CAM on 92, and WAM on 96, 98, 99, and 00. However, are these only Philadelphia minted cents or Denver ones too?

    Congrats!!!! Nice finds.

I stopped by a bank for halves, they had none, so I picked up 2 rolls of dimes. I was going to go to another bank to get a box of dimes, but I got caught in traffic and they closed before I got there. So, I searched the 2 measly rolls of dimes......and found a 1964. :) (I shoulda bought more!!!)

It's impossible to find a WAM on a Denver-minted coin. Because the master dies are prepared in Philly then shipped to each mint, if one Denver was to have the WAM, all the cents from Denver minted that same year would be WAM's... you follow me? The reason the WAM's exist in Philly was because someone pulled out the wrong variety of reverse master die when creating the production die. Or at least that's what I understand.

What stinks here in California is that most of the P minted WAM coins of those years mostly have D mintmarks on them. About 1 in 10 are P mints, in general I have a tough time finding them here.
