It's like a train wreck, you don't want to see it, but you just can't look away! That's one of those coins that has 'character'...
I really like that one. I keep a "special" box just for stuff like that, train wrecks. I've got some doozies and that one would have a special place in that box.

That quarter's got some tough circumstances. Ugly, battered, and born one year after it would still be considered desirable
I used to repair quarters. A few taps with a hammer and a few rasps with a file and they'd be fit to pass through a coin counter again. Most heavily damaged coins just get tossed in the trash and this never seemed right. If they'll go through a vending machine they'll even circulate.
It looks like one of those quarters that sits on the sidewalk and asks you if you have any spare change.
A quarter was worth a lot more in those days. I couldda made good money if I had access to enough of them but it was just a few here and a few there. Municipalities generated this junk by the barrelfull and after everything else was gone there were always a few bent and mangled coins left.
