Hello All, I have been going through and inventorying my great great grandmothers coin collection I inherited and I found 5 medicine bottles filled with 50 1963 pennies (250 total). They all look uncirculated but seem to have some fingerprints and other damage from being stored in the medicine bottle. I have a few pictures and I was wondering what you think these would grade at. These are just 5 off the top I am sure there are some better / worse. As you can see the top right seems to be the best grade out of the group. Thanks, Adam
I'd say 62-65. I've found nicer in circulated rolls from the bank. You might get a couple bucks per 50 on ebay.
I was just looking up prices on numismedia These seem a bit off to me... Modern Lincoln Cents - 1963 RD MS64 - 8.08 MS65 - 18.00 MS66 - 76.25 MS67 - 630.00 If you feel these prices are accurate I am going to pick me out some of the nicest ones and get the slabbed and see what the grade out to. Thanks, Adam
...It costs more to slab them than $18. You'd have to make MS66's for 'em to be worth it. Maybe you should check out some MS66/67 memorials on HA.com.
Those would make nice 63-65's. But I do agree with the other posters that it wouldn't be worth the submission cost to get them graded.
Thanks all. There are some very nice coins in this lot. I think I am going to pull out 2 of the nicest and get them slabbed. Here is a good example http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=211014&lotNo=26049#Photo I know it is a gamble but I am hoping to get some 66's back. I will do some searching tonight and find the coins I am going to send in and post some very detailed pictures. Thanks, Adam
