I have a several foreign bills in my possession. I believe many if not all are WWII vintage or older. I have bills from Japan, Malta, Philippines, Egypt, Nippon, Maraco, Denmark, England, Italy, France, Mexico, Ghana, and a couple I cannot determine yet. I also have one that looks to be a Confederate 50 - states The Confederate States of America. I'm trying to determine if any of these have any value. I would say that most are "so so" - would not classify them as mint by any standard. Some are cool to look at. Any help in directing me to a place to where I can determine exactly what I have would be appreciated. KC
Nice site for coins ... will use this one for certain. Really need one that shows the old currency. If you have one let me know. Thanks
I'm not aware of online catalogs that would give you pricing. Your best bet is to post scans and folks are often kind enough to look things up for you. Dave
Images Here is the first batch of images - if you have any information or values for any of the attached let me know. If a better image is needed ... not sure how but I'll figure something out and try to get it. thanks
More pictures These are another batch - a couple have confederate bills. I am not 100% sure these are real - could be. If someone can tell please let me know. KC
According to my 2011 JNDA Japanese coin and currency catalogue, the half shilling note in that condition is worth about $1 retail, and the one shilling note would probably retail for about $3 or so. The 10 peso note is torn and probably has little value; even an intact note in that condition would not sell for more than $1.
According to the 2011 JDNA Japan Coin and Currency catalogue: Japanese 100 yen note, in bad condition-- worth less than $1 Japanese 1 peso note, in heavily used condition-- worth less than $1 Japanese 10 yen note-- worth $2 or less
Final Pic The first couple of bills I'm not sure what country. I think one could be Korea (at least that is written on the bill) but the other - no clue. thanks KC
Top 2 notes: Japan 1 yen-- worth less than 80 cents 1949 People's Bank of China 10,000 yuan-- no idea of the value of that one, but here's a recent eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...=rrpqqjhJ0ckZP50Pk681EsnlaBI%3D#ht_500wt_1156
On the first image, you have a 10F Miner note, Pick 99, worth $3 in VG. I don't recognize the "By Robert Sternberger" at the bottom, but it would be interesting to know what that's about. Also the small 2F note is Pic 114a Allied Military Currency. Worth $1 or so. And there's a couple nice Morocco notes on the fourth image, P25 and P39, worth maybe $5 each. Down lower I see an Algeria P85 with writing and tape on it. Probably not worth anything in that shape, unless you could decode the writing to be interesting to someone. Dave
I live in a small community and came across these notes and was able to get them - I've not lived here a real long time. The writing on them I believe was from a WWII serviceman and I do recognize the family name and I'm almost 100% certain the individual served. I need to run to the library or talk to another local who would know. In fact on bill almost looks like sever "buddies" signed it.
Ah, that's called a "short snorter" (don't ask me why), a note with signatures on it like that. If it were me, since you recognize this name as someone local, I would be trying to get it back to someone in that family. It should be worth far more to them than a buck or two... Dave
