Can Someone Please Identify This Coin?

    Either Chinese or Japanese. Other than that, I'm clueless.
    Came with some US coins I bought...

    So far, all my Chinese coins have been counterfeit....

    So the difference is ours are more goldish and thinner?

    Yeah pretty much, plus you can tell they're not bronze like the real ones.

    I'm not so sure that your coin is a counterfeit-- it is fairly common Chinese cash coin. I have 2 or 3 of that particular type myself. Anyway, your coin appears to be from the Dao Guong era (1821-1851) of the Qing Dynasty.

    Are you sure yours are real 1966? Angels does'nt have the right wear, and people dont usually give these away for free...

    At the recent coin show I attended in Tokyo, dealers were selling these in bags for the equivalent of 30 cents each.

    If you look in the 1801-1900 Krause World Coins catalog under China, Chekiang Province, Cash, ND (1820-51), you can find this type of coin listed for a quarter or so.

    Original coin looks good. Emperor Xuan Zong, Dao Guang tong bao. Hartill 22.578, Board of Revenue, East branch. 1824-1850.

    Zach, yours is worth a bit more. R12-14 compared to the OP's R16, I would guess $2-$5.
    Puyi(1909-12), Xuan Tong tong bao. Board of Revenue, West branch mint.
    H#22.1513(R14) if ~19mm, H#22.1515(R12) if ~24mm.

    Well thank you Mr. DCH..... You learn something everyday, see with 10 minutes til romorrow I learned my thing for the day...
    I thought I might not learn anything today, but I just had to squeeze something in.....
