terminology query.. wheatie error with pic

What is the term for a coin that it looks like the obverse was hit so hard it caused the reverse to rise in the shape of the obverse design. I took a gamble without being sure. Probably overpaid... what is this and what is it worth?

I have one similar, obv waves only no issues on rev
Yours doesn't appear to have any issues on obv from viewing on my Droid. Upon further exam, that's Abe's. Head. I gotta go pull mine out now.

It's ghosting from die deterioration. Maybe a couple of dollars tops. It's pretty common on wheat cents.

lol well I hope 11.75 wasn't too many dollars. I have hundreds of thousands of cents and haven't found one myself yet... well, I've paid 10 bucks for worse things in my life ;)

No that isn't too bad. But when people try to sell them as die clashes or double struck errors on fee bay, it annoys me. I hope whoever you bought it from didn't tell you it was something else.

take a look for yourself. They say they don't know if it's a ...... and name a list. I just think it's neat, and like I say, I've done worse, but a search for "die ghosting" gave me 2 results: a nickel on this forum, and a 55 wheatie on coincommunity... Our fellow CT'er paid $12 for his nickel so I'm ok but thanks for giving the phantom a name lol.
