    Hello all,

I picked-up some good looking coins last weekend. They are a little different than my usual pick-ups. The first one is a proof large cent from Great Britain. According to Krause, it is common and catalogs for something like $20. Wow, does it have razor sharp details!

The second coin is a centavo from the Philippines. This one is a little older and a little redder than the ones from the 1940’s that I normally see. This one is from 1936 and it includes the earlier reverse shield & eagle design.

The third coin is a 15 Kopek from 1861 Russia. Again, it is a little older than the ones I normally see for sale which are typically dated in the early 1900s. This one was made during the rule of Alexander II. This 15 Kopek includes an interesting reticulated edge. It was six years later in 1867 that the edge was changed to a reeded edge.

Thanks for letting me share. Please post some of your new coins when you have a chance.

The 1861 15 kopek is quite interesting. If I am not wrong, it is not struck in St. Petersburg but struck in Paris mint. Having no mintmaster mark is the indication of the coin struck in Paris mint.

In that condition, I reckon it should be worth easily 40 dollars or more.

    Thanks for the info.

I did not know that it was made in Paris. Thank you for the information. I assumed that the mint mark was somehow defined by these three characters:
    C Π Б

All three are beautiful Collect, but the proof is stunning. All nice pickups. Congrats!

Thank you Bruce. When I saw the proof I also thought it was stunning & I assumed that it would be very expensive. I had no idea that you could buy an attractive proof example of an oldie like that for only $20!
