Hello, I have (2) ANACS certified MS70 1987 Silver Eagles. I am fairly new to the coin world and have had a couple of different opinions on the coins value. Any help??
Sadly Tommy, I don't think you're gonna get much over "spot" on these if you go to a dealer. Most consider these just plain ol' bullion. The '70 grade might net you a bit more with collectors but the coin is in the wrong holder. Most guys that collect these collect them holdered by NGC or PCGS. Welcome to the forum.....
Welcome to the neighborhood! Numismedia lists it at $58.75, but I would take that with a grain of salt. You can only figure its true value by what someone is willing to pay for it. For example, if it were listed at auction on eBay and two or more bidders were interested, it could sell for this price or higher. On the other hand, if only one bidder shows any interest, it might sell for considerably less. The other problem you have is that it is in an ANACS slab. Is this one of the older, white slabs? Or, is it a blue or gold insert? There are people here who swear by ANACS, but that still doesn't alter the fact that the newer ANACS slabs (blue or gold) do not command as much attention as an NGC, PCGS or even the older ANACS slab.
