I have a Californa SQ that I found in the bottom of a bucket of baseballs this week. The obverse is beautifully toned and I would like your opinions on whether it would be body-bagged for being AT if it were submitted for grading. I didn't intend to tone it, I guess that something in the baseballs caused it to tone; my guess is the glue inside of them that holds the string together did it. Anyway, it is rather pretty and goes from the left to the right progressing from rust-red to orange to yellow to green to cyan to lavender in color. the reverse is lightly toned golden (you know what the clad coins look like when they turn golden). Anyway, here is the best pic I could come up with. So, does it look wrong, or is it ok?
I like it and would leave it the way it is. Then again I think TPG co's. are the scourge of the hobby Bone
I agree, about liking it as is... I just wondered if it is "damaged" or "improved" now that it has colors. I don't intend to submit it, but I just wonder, "what if?"
Found it in a bucket of baseballs? : ) I've heard lots of ways of people finding coins, but that is a new one.
Appears NT to me but unless you are going to waste money sending it in just to find out, don't worry about it. It looks great. Keep as is.
I'm a former HS baseball coach and I still have 5 gallon buckets of baseballs in my house. I guess last year, someone in my family (my 1 year old daughter perhaps) dropped it in there. Anyway, I was sorting the baseballs over the weekend for use this spring when I found it. I was certainly surprised, especially with how nice it is in hand (much more vibrant than my photo indicates). Anyway, Thanks all for your opinions!
