Odd, It does seem to show some traces of a double strike on this side as well, but the weak mushyness seems very unusual for a US Mint coin. I would wonder if it might be a double struck contemporary counterfeit.
i rubbed it on a white cloth and it left i belive lead on the cloth i dont think a real coin would do this and why counterfeit this coin?
Wow.. that is one BAD fake! Oh... and don't worry, our Chinese friends counterfeit just about every collectible coin. However, they do a much better job than your example, which looks like an older (and quite crude) cast replica.
I don't see anything that would make me think it's a fake. It could just be environmental damage. I would like to see a pic of the obverse if possible. It would make it easier to conclude what is wrong with the coin.
