Most of the members are searching rolls for silver coins. The pre-65 half dollars contain .36169 oz. of silver. With silver at about $36, each one is worth $13. Kennedy half dollars, 1965-1970 are 40% silver and contain .1479 oz. Each one of these is worth about $5. As a rule, banks don't keep a supply of half dollar rolls on hand. You would have to order a $500 box and after searching them, re-roll them and return them to the bank. If you have a good relationship with the employees at the bank, this usually isn't a problem. Since silver has risen so high in price, more and more people are searching for silver coins, so it is getting harder and harder to find them in rolls. Chris
If you find a bank that has a free coin counting machine, you won't even have to re-roll them It makes returning coins sooo much easier! Just don't go to coinstar to return your change! Unless you like the idea of losing 9%(I think) of what you put into it!
