Thought it may be worth (at the most) $2... but than my manager from work told me it was worth $40. If someone could please tell me a little more I'd really appreciate it :smile
They made those coins in millions. They are only worth its face value, 50 cents. Maybe more since in such nice condition. But don't be down, it's still a keeper!
I see, I see. it will still have a place in my collection none the less values don't mean very much to me at the moment since if still starting out. Ya know? Aha. Thankyou for your help!!!
Cool design, millions made (minted) and many hoarded by folks who thought they'd be worth a bundle down the road. As plentiful as there are stars in the sky......
Sell it to your manager for $20-$30, then go pick up a few half dollar rolls from a bank, and you will more than likely at least find one more, and possibly even some silver!
She would probably like to keep her job. She'll probably make more than from search rolls because she's not likely to find that much silver.
I think your manager was pulling a fast one on you. He just doesn't want to be bothered with a few half dollars in his deposit. By the way, you do a nice job taking and setting up your photos. Chris
Thanks Chris! I'm actually shocked you said that... I'm using a very old 7.1 megapixel olympus camera Plus, the flash is so bright, that no matter what settings I use, the flash still whites out the whole image. Therefore, I have to take them during the day, without flash and with a VERY steady hand. I was going to ask, does anyone know of any really good cameras that take very clear up close images for under $200?
I could mail you a bicentennial Ike if you'd like, I picked up a few at the bank a little while back Not great condition but cool to have. I already completed my Ike set from circulation/banks
A lot of people keep telling me to search rolls. I'm new to this, so if anyone could explain this better to me I'd really appreciate it. Do you just go to your bank and ask for rolls of coins? Do they have half dollars and one dollar coins you can buy in rolls? If you don't find anything, do you just turn them back in after? Any information or tips would help honestly Kind of a stupid question, sorry :/
Sent you a PM. Yeah coin roll hunting is generally just going to the bank and asking for rolls of coins. Generally they won't give you a hard time. Half dollars are harder because a lot of banks don't keep them in "stock" as it were. Asking for any loose they have is good though, also ask for "large dollar coins" that's how I go the Ikes. I'm currently looking through nickels to try and complete a whole jefferson album from circulation, that'll take a while
For half dollars, you will sometimes find loose ones at the banks, and the occasional roll; if you really want to search half dollars, you will need to order boxes ($500) from the bank. If you do order boxes, it's considered proper etiquette to return them to a different bank. Good luck, and be sure to come by and let us know what you find: Thread: Roll-searchers, post your results!
