Grading question

    Hey everyone.I was curios on what the star by the date means on a grading thing a ma bob.( cant think of the name) Like the PCGS... holders!And how does it increase or decrease its value?:smile

    Ngc uses a star for coins with exceptional eye appeal

    They are called slabs

    To add to what Jester said, a star designation will/can greatly increase the value of the coin. There isn't a set value of increase, but is is very desirable for a lot of collectors.

    NGC star and plus link from NGC. Keep in mind that this is NGC's opinion of what is in the holder. With that in mind I have seen a few of these coins that I did not like - does not mean that ngc was wrong - but I did not like the coin.
