Well my daughter will be 9 here soon, and she has gotten into coins. And I would like to get her a couple. So far I bought her a proof set of her birth year and I just picked up a Slabed Presidential coin. However I would like one more coin but I dont know what to get her. She realy likes wheat cents. So I was thinking of a common date graded. Nothing to crazy she is only 9. let me know what you think.

Well, I would get my daughter ( provided I was anywhere near old enough to have one) a half dollar or dollar coin. I think that these coins can really captivate the mind of yn's, maybe a Ike $ or even a Morgan(common-date), I think she could possibly even take interest in a Walking Liberty Half (once again common date), or a few Kennedies (she could easily complete a set of these from bank rolls).

Good luck!! And I'm sure she'd like whatever you got her....

How about a 100 year set set go with her 2002 set?

That sounds like a good idea as well, only problem though is that 3 of the designs will be barbers..... They kinda bore me.
    How about a 200 year-set!!! lol

Yes I like the 200 year set. See I like the Barbers they were my fave growing up. They were old and cheap I hate the new stuff anything after the barber series. I dont like However the SLQ is pretty cool stuff.

Anything after 1948 is kinda boring to me..... I like walking liberty halves, mercs, and peace dollars. I see how people like Barber halves, it's a pretty design, but not so pretty as to put it on 3 different denominations!!

If your daughter likes the wheat cent series, how about a nice 1957 or 1958 mint/proof set. They'll have a Franklin half in there too. Plus they're affordable at about $30-40.

Not so much the seated series though... I really think that is a beatiful design, and captures the American spirit. I'm actually working on Seated halves right now:D. Nowadays, they just slap a president and a building on the coin and are done....:(. I think the Sac dollars are a step in the right direction to bringing back creative designs.

Thats something to think about. I may just cheat give her one of my 58 sets and put together a 100 year set with my stuff and call it a day

A certified wheat cent would be great.

This coin is recomended alot for this kind of thing, but a proof ASE would be great. I just looked at one of mine today and it is truly a marvel to look at. The detail is amazing and the smooth, lustery fields are stunning. 2011 ASEs from the mint are not realeased until June 30th, but on Ebay pre-2011's run you cheapest $70.

Another option is a modern silver commemerative dollar. These are fun to own and collect as there are so many designs and the designs are always very unique. From your daughters age, I'm assuming she was born in 2002, so a West Point Bicenntenial commemerative would be her birth year commemerative.

I was going to say a 1943 steel cent, but I see someone beat me to it. If she likes wheaties, than she'll love that.
Possibly even more than a proof set because of the historical value being from ww2.

I have heard that women like gold...:D

Seriously an NGC or PCGS certified gold dollar would really be something that she would never forget. 1853 is a common date and one in VF or so won't cost you an arm and a leg.

    Just an arm.

  19. Go with a 2002 American Silver Eagle or 2002 Silver proof set. :) TC

How about getting her the proof sets of you and your wife's birth years? I'm assuming that you're in your early 30's, so these sets should be readily available and not at all expensive. The other possibility is to get her a Bicentennial Proof Set.
