need help finding large silver cert value

I came across a few 1899 large silver certificates and one is a star note. It is in average circulated condition ( no tears or ink spots). I don't have pics yet, but I wondered if anyone has a ballpark idea on the value?

I can't give you an estimate, I'm more into world currancy, but that is a very cool bill. I've never seen one with 2 pictures on it. Did you buy it from a dealer? Oh,I just found that note in my book. It is pic#338, in CU it isbetween $250-$285, in XF 125-135, in F 80-85.Your billis not in fine cond, but I don't have the expertise to estimate either the grade or the value.JonySky

    bill

I got the bill from my grandfather. I could find values for most of my bills but not this bill with the star.

I most instances, the Signers on the Bill are just as important and sometimes, more so than the grade! I don't know much about grading paper currency but believe that it would grade at Very Good and imagine that it would fetch from $25 to $40 with the more common signatures. I could not make out the signers and if they are any of the few that make the bill more rare, then it could possibly fetch $50 or more.

    Good luck...Frank

    Signatures

I'll have to check the signatures later.i'm still wondering if the star adds much to the value of the large bills like this. I also wanted to thank every body for the help.:)

    viper,

The star on U.S. currency is significant as this indicates that it is a replacement for a destroyed bill and since these are fairly rare to find, the values are much higher for the bills with stars in the Serial Number. I did not pick up on the star when I made my previous quote of a value and would have to say that the star should increase the value by 20 to 40% and possibly more.

    viper,

The two signatures that you noted, are the more common ones and don't help the value of the bill!
