Looks like a legit Obsolete with some extra heavy circulation. When I collected Obsoletes they were of vignette themes. I am sorry to say that I am not to familiar with ths Bank or issue, however, you can look up "broken bank notes" here is the link http://brokenbanknotes.com/
and inquire with the sites owner.
I am sure he will be able to answer any questions.

    Regards,

This is a New Jersey obsolete bank note from Hoboken issued in 1863 according to the Haxby reference on these issues. They issued 1,2 and 3 Dollar denomination bills. Yours is designated as NJ205-G4a. The value would be minimal because of its poor condition although this series of notes seems to be scarce, particularly the $3 bill. Hope this helps alecaim.

Nice post Bruce, thanks for your assistance. :D

Do you own the Haxby References?

Anytime RickieB. I have only the NJ reference right now, as I limit myself to just my home state. I may get into Philadelphia issues later, so will get the PA one if I do. In case you didn't know, the entire reference or single state references are available at www.numismaster.com and are pretty reasonable.

    ObsoleteCurrency I like old money.

According to the book New Jersey's Money by: George W. Wait the bank was incorporated in 1863 and closed in 1863. Wait lists all of the denominations issued by this bank with a rarity of 6 (5 - 10 notes known).
