Okay, so I was reading about someone's 'oldest coin' and a thought crossed my mind: What 'date' is the oldest known coin? But then I realized that discussion could get off to some tangent about stones or chicken bones or something else used as currency. Then, when it comes to actual coins, you have ancients, like Greek and Roman coins, but you often need a master's degree in history to date them. SO.... I'll ask this out of pure curiosity: What is the oldest known coin with an 'Ano Domini' date on the coin itself? I have one dated from the early 1400s, but I am sure there are much older.
That was a good read! I surely figured the coins would be much older though. I thought there would be some from maybe the 800s.
