Hello, I was wondering if anyone could value this coin: http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8853/coine.jpg It is in rather bad shape and I am still not convinced it is real until I can find out what it is to get an accurate weight / dimension. During my research I have found so many jewelry companies that make fakes. I currently do not have access to my scale but it is near 1.5" round. This has been a coin of interest in my family collection for a good amount of time and I am uncertain of its origin or even how it ended up in the collection. Any help would be appreciated. **Update** From further research and the help of others I have personally identified it as the following: Bolivia 8 Reales Cob Thanks, Adam
Interesting coin. It does look like an old self-made piece or a piece that was cut to make change, many years ago. I looked at the patina of the edges and it looks like it hasn't been altered in recently, but I am looking at an image, so I could be in error. I am going to guess it's Spanish in origin. I wish I could offer more info but I am not a world coin collector.
In the pictures, this piece looks kind of bronze in color. Is that accurate, or what is the actual color?
That color in the picture is what it looks like in person. I am starting to think it is a fake unfortunately. But if there is an expert that can show otherwise that will be welcomed.
