Hi! This is the oldest coin I own, and it is not in good condition but I was wondering what is was worth. I have taken a pic of both sides, it should detail all that is messed up with the coin (remarkably better than my eye). I really never trust my judgement on grading coins and generally always go with the absolute lowest value, but this piece is special and I thought I would ask. Thanks!
Guess that would be nothing Shame it was stored in a bag of coins and mishandled soo much. Then again, I did the same until I actually looked at it and saw what it was.
Sure, I'll give you nothing for it! LOL Even though it has some post mint damage, it's a nice coin. But, I'll leave it to an expert in this series to give you a value.
Here's a damaged one on eBay that the seller is trying to get $250 plus for: http://cgi.ebay.com/1805-Draped-Bus...90?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3a66266aba Still, there's something about your coin (other than the damage) that doesn't look quite right to me. But then, I'm no expert on this series.
I understand what many others are saying on this thread about the color being slightly out-of-the-normal. It could be some odd type of corrosion or that it is a chinese counterfeit (nothing else that I can think of). If it is authentic, you've got a roughly $350 coin (damage taken into consideration). I am guaranteeing nothing about the authenticity because I, myself, find the colors to be a "bit off". -Brian
It is authentic - I took it to a coin shop today to have it verified. I think I'm gonna drop it on ebay and see what happens. Thanks again everyone!
