I am not a big shooter like some of you, so I am forced to get some lower grade items. I paid $20 for this lady. I know shes not pretty, but do you agree it was a good deal? Or did I just overpay for bullion? What do you think of a grade. Is it at least vg8?
I don't see anything that keeps this from being in the VG range. I am not a big seated collector, so take it with a grain of salt... but it definately looks better than a G to me. It may even be a borderline F. To get much beyond that though, you should be able to see the letters on the shield. The reverse has a beautiful 'circulation cameo'.
Nothing wrong with that Seated Lib gbroke. I like it. Good honest wear and a pretty coin in it's own right. A lot of history there and stories to tell. Congrats! Bruce
You got a more than 150-year-old one-year type half dollar in what looks like VG condition for about half of the Coin Values price, so I think you did rather well
Thanks guys. I am a little overzealous when bidding on items sometimes. I am not familiar with this type. So it sounds like it worked out well this time.
I would go with a conservative VG, as I'm viewing on phone & cannot see any letters in the shield. But still, a one year variety as stated above for half of 2012 red book. Sweet!!
I agree with the other members, a nice VG example with its "original skin". If it had half of the letters from liberty show up on the shield that'll grade close fine. Nice pickup for the money, you did good.
I agree with VG-8, although this isn't a coin that should ever be sent in for grading because of the value. In any event, you did just fine.
That coin will never be bullion gbroke. Its a nice, honest wear, very historically interesting type coin that most US collectors would be pleased to own. You did very well with that purchase.
