I always thought she was the most attractive empress (at least from what the portraits reveal on coins) This sexy piece of silver was waiting for me when I got home: It's worn, but good silver. Has a pretty attractive portrait too (IMO), which is the key. stainless
I like the die but not the lighting on the portrait. I think she would look better lighted from above.
Thats a very pretty portrait of her, shame about the wear. Some are hit/miss with her. This looks like its one of the earlier coins of her?
Nice one stainless! She looks quite beautiful in this portrait, unlike her mother in many of her portraits used on coins, no offense meant. I agree with doug about the lighting from above maybe giving a bit of a better look, but the coin looks great for me. I have wanted a Faustina II for some time.... I would like one of her Tetradrachmai from Alexandria if I can find a nice one, but I see beautiful portraits of her on denarii all the time.... very striking portrait on your coin.... a nice skinny fragile feminine neck, good features, still retaining alot of detail. I like it alot, and with Faustina II coins, I agree with you (except in special cases with rare reverses and what not) about the attractive portrait being key. Nice pickup and addition to your collection!
Yup. And mat is right, I use it as a pocket piece. It wasn't too bad of a purchase at $1 . As far as the faustina pics, I'll try it again later, I used a scanner because I can't get my computer to identify my camera.
