Under "favorite coin" I received no responses to my solicitation for ideas for the reverse of the Lincoln Cent in celebration of the Bicentennial of Lincoln's birth!!! I think the change should be permanent, as I'm kind of tired of the memorial. Any ideas? I have none . . . maybe bring back the wheat reverse, but that's not very creative.

how about a log cabin in the center of the reverse with a rendition of mr. lincoln and mary owens standing somewher in the foreground. hi birthdate somewhere on the coin (1809-1865) with a famous quote put in there somewhere.("Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.") i realize that that is quite long for a cent but just an idea.
    anyone else?

Note sure how best to represent it, but I believe that honoring the emancipation proclimation in some fashion would make for an appropriate reverse.

I believe the powers that be are thinking of multiple reverses for the 2009 cent. So ALL your ideas may come to light, a sort of "Great moments in the life of Abe Lincoln" year.

How about the a 1 year special tribute to the lincoln series...with the original reverse (vdb), along a steel cent coin, and current cent with all 3 mints producing them in a special collectors edition in the perspective proof finishes of the year of issue, and since no proof sets were produced during WWII...that would have to be left upto the mint as to which type finish, maybe that one could be just uncirculated. And just for circulation pieces produce the original one.

I like the idea of bringing back the Wheatie, just for a short time.

I like this idea as well, plus I would like to see a new reverse which will become permanent. Bringing back the reverse on the Indian Cent would be kind of cool!

If it becomes permanent, how will future generations have anything different? I know that the Lincoln reverse will have several different reverses in 2009, but lets keep change an option.

Who are we to determine what our future generations deserve to have on their coins?

Another rumor has the 2009 cent as the last year of production.

Actually, I meant to say the new reverse would replace the memorial, but I did not mean to make it permanent a la the King Jefferson nickel. The new reverse would be under the current law (could change after 25 years) or a new law requiring change after 25 years (as proposed by GDJMSP).
