1895-S morgan dollar

    According to Coin World (March 2011):
    1895-S
    EF-40 $1,250
    AU-50 $2,200

    Redbook values are a little lower - 1,100 and 1,900 respectively.

    Looks to me to be 35/40. I don't see it as a 45.

    Value? Eye appeal counts and I'm not sure I'd make that call from these photos. The scratch across the cheek may be a problem. And cleaning is always a worry.

    This is a coin that will be worth a lot more in a graded holder from PCGS or NGC. If you're thinking of selling it you will get much less if it is raw.

    Thank you, Lance. Now maybe Chris will understand why someone would want to have a coin GRADED by PCGS....

    Yes, i bought a lot at under melt value, i think i ended up paying around $15-$17 per coin, so it was a good deal :D
