Finally hunted down this really scarce variety. There are three different varities that was struck in 1898, noted as small, medium and large variety in most catalog. While the small variety is the easiest as well as the cheapest out of all 5 fun coins struck throughout the year, the medium and large varieties are completely different and are extremely tough. I was prepared to look for a low grade example but looks like I will be keeping this for a very long time. Maybe you happened to have one in your collection and never noticed it?
