I have a problem. Which of these two do you prefer? Trying to assemble a set of woodies, I wind up with my 2 favorites being the same date. Sorry, but I do not have time to take more pictures of the original. Here is the new one.

The unusual wood pattern on the reverse of your second piece is quite stunning, it reminds me of curly or even quilted maple wood. I wish the obverse was as splendid as the reverse. Your first example looks great, although the wood patterning is not as interesting then the one on your second example; I find that the obverse is more attractive on your first example. I will have to choo-choo-choose example 1 but my opinion could change if I had the pieces in hand because the wood on that second example is amazingly attractive . Both pieces are fantastic as usual :D

They are all nice, but if I had one choice, I'd pick #1. I have yet to find a woodie.

The first, by a long shot. I am not fond of the second.

I'm with Lance, the first one is the nicest. The second is nice also, but not in the same class as #1.

With the rest of the crowd the new one. Now for why - the pictures on the second look off with the color and background selected. The second looks almost splotchy while the first seems to be more even across both obverse and reverse. I am not sure the original picture really represents the second coin.

If you are collecting for strictly woodgrain effect, #2.
If you are collecting for all around eye appeal, #1

#1 is the one. But I would hang on 2 both.

    i like #1 the best

i find that stripe down the middle of the obv. of #2 a bit distracting
also i like the way the streaks are angled at a slant on #1
