I have a 1953 circulated wheat penny the top of the five is enclosed with copper. It looks like small a drop of copper filled in the top of the 5. Any one seen one?
Sounds like a "filled 5", also refered to as a nicely placed die chip or "cud". It is moderately common in the Wheat Cent series and adds no additional value to your coin. -Brian
Hello jnilsen, Your coin appears to have a die chip at the date. It is interesting but it will not add much value to the worn coin. Yes I have the same exact one it look to b in really good shape ,I to was wondering if anyone else had one .
