What did I tell you. It's one in millions that you'll find a '31-S. I didn't believe this post the second I saw it.
Let's keep the Coin Talk Code in mind when posting. You know the 3 lines above the posting box. Statistics may be against discoveries from circulation, but they do occur. Yes, some may tell untruths, but wait until proof occurs before accusations. Thanks folks, Jim
DANG! BUMMER! It would have been truely an amazing find.....consider at 866,000 it's the second lowest mintage wheat cent.
It's possible to pull rarities like this from circ. I found a '31-S Buffalo, second-lowest mintage of Buffs. It's all about buying the right box at the right time, picking up that collection that was dumped into a coin machine and ended up in those rolls... Oh, I did pull a '22-D Linc recently, and a '14-S when I was 12... They're out there, just really, really rare.
I'm sorry to hear that is was fake. Still an exciting find though. I have found semi-key Lincoln dates in circulation, so there are some still in out there.
I wish I know now when I was a kid in the 60's pulling coins out of rolls and circulation. Just think of some of the stuff floating around back then. I am working on a time machine in my spare time. First stop...1909
Ya know, I'd still be pretty excited to pull even an altered 31-D out of circulation. Good find, even though it's fake!
No, what you actually said was, and I quote: In other words, you were wrong, you falsely accused the poster of lying, and I'm hoping we'll be seeing an apology soon.
I'd like to hear what excuse he gave you for having one of your IHC's in his pocket. I hope he came clean and didn't make up some bull story.
