1953-S error coin?

    I have a 1953 circulated wheat penny the top of the five is enclosed with copper. It looks like small a drop of copper filled in the top of the 5. Any one seen one?

    It could be a die chip but we can only guess without a photo.

    Sounds like a "filled 5", also refered to as a nicely placed die chip or "cud". It is moderately common in the Wheat Cent series and adds no additional value to your coin.

    As beat up as that coin is, it's probably PMD.

    Hello jnilsen,

    Your coin appears to have a die chip at the date. It is interesting but it will not add much value to the worn coin.

    Here is a link to a previous thread depicting several cents with die chips. I believe the thread lists one dated 1953-S which is the same date as yours.

    Yes I have the same exact one it look to b in really good shape ,I to was wondering if anyone else had one .

    I have a 1953 s penny with the top double hit it was almost cut off
