My father left a Whitman folder of these. It appears to be complete except for '55 DDO. After 15 years, I'm finally looking at them. Would someone tell me if there is anything special that I should be looking for in this set? Thanks for the help.
Most of those will be common coins except for the 55 and 72 DDO varieties. If you want to look for others, use the coppercoins website: http://www.coppercoins.com/ Nothing beats the value when it's from you Dad....enjoy your set!
there may be many treasures. as BadThad states there is a fine website. golly there might me a small date 60 or the 70 s may be something who knows. for one knowing your father picked those cents to place in the whitman is should be a treasure of its own
Even if there are no special varieties such as small dates , RPM's , DDO's or DDR's, you might also consider the grade or condition. If the coins are in gem BU mint state with no finger prints or verdigris , you may want to make sure they stay that way. One example of common date wheat cents that are getting harder to find in great shape are the 1943-P , 1943-D & 1943-S since they have a tendency to get dark and ugly very easily. If the cents are in a 15 year old coin folder (not an album) , then the folder itself might be harmful to the coins. also checkout another varieties website: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/
