    Hey gang!

One of my employees picked this coin out of our 90% and showed it to me. I know there are known 1956 D/D quarters. It almost looks like a D/S to me with the curved live off the top right of the Mintmark...

    Thoughts?

Looks to me like the MM got mashed in some PMD.

You are the expert, so I'm way out of my league, but since I see what you are talking about, I went and looked up the font for that year to see if the S would fit. I could not find that any were minted with "S" in 1956 (last ones in 1954). No font noted at varietyvista and not on list at coinfacts.

Good catch Di, last S minted quarter was indeed in 1954. I agree with Condor it looks to have been mashed. There maybe a die chip there also.

Good eye on that employee even if its not an OMM.

It's in my files as 1956-D 25c CRPM-001, in CONECA's files as RPM#1 and it is in the Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-501 (formerly FS-022.4) exhibiting a "D over inverted D" repunched mintmark variety.

    Congrats on the find!
