Hi all, I'm new to the board. After inheriting a bunch of old coins from my grandfather I became interested in coins. I found this 1910 $2.5 Indian Gold Coin in a box of coins he had, interested in finding out what everyone thinks of it. I am not a pro at coin pictures so please let me know if I need to retake them for a better view, thanks!

    About the coin:
Looks to be in very good condition, a few scratches here and there. The edge of the coin still has the grooves.

Very nice. I don't have my grading book handy and am not an expert anyway. Someone will come along and help for sure. This is one of the coins I really want to get at least 1 of.

Looks to be an ex jewelry piece. Is there a different shade of color around the rim?I would put it at AU50

It means that the coin was removed from a jewelry mount. This will decrease the value, depending on the mount. Also, you might know this, but don't try to improve the coin's condition.(polishing, cleaning, buffing, anything.)

    I see...

I did notice in that picture I put up that the edges seem to be worn or discolored, what not so much in this updated pic:

The edge discoloring you see or line you see around the rim would of been caused by being in a bezel IMO
