What are the odds of finding the 2005-P Satin Finish coins in pocket change? Well, I am almost certain that I found several of the Cents and Dimes in my pocket change but only found one of each worth keeping. The others have been in pockets too many times and resembled reverse Cameos with the frost in the fields and high polish on the letters and images!

The odds are pretty good actually. It's rather common for those who bust up the mint sets looking for high grade examples to submit for grading to take the low grade examples and just spend them. There's not much else thay can do with them after all.

I broke up WELL over 100 sets to submit for grading. The coins that came back raw since they did not meet my minimum grade, I spent those.

Also, many of the cents produced for circulation have a very similar look to the ones in mint sets and the dimes produced for the mint sets look like normal circulation strikes.

And, the mint uses the Satin Finish dies to produce coins for circulation after they have out lived their life for producing mint set coins.
