Went to see my husband on his lunch break. It was almost 1 pm so I thought I'd stop by the bank by his job right before it closed. I asked the teller if she had halves. She said "I only have 8" ok I'll take them. As she was counting them out, I saw a pretty silver flash in her hands. A 1968!

So I found a 40%er and then 3 silvers in 2 boxes of dimes.

And get this: I went to the coin shop by hubby's job. The guy had rolls upon rolls of silver dimes he was selling at spot. He let me take all of the rolls to a table and pick out which ones I wanted. I got a nice mix of mercury and roosevelt (no barbers though). Some were toned really nicely and a lot of them were in really good shape. No junk silver here. I was sure he'd charge a little bit over spot but he didn't. In fact, he sold 69 dimes to me for $1.95 less than spot. WOO HOO!!!

Yes, I had a real good day today :)

I'm jealous. I have zero luck with quarters. There's just so many state quarters that I'd have to hunt through a million boxes just to find something older than 1970.

So YAY! Good finds for you! (on the dimes and nickels too)

Those quarters are just an aberration, trust me.

2 wars in a box of nickels, along with an '87-P with FS.

I have searched so many quarters just thinking about it will make my head spin and I have only found 1 other silver quarter other than these and it was a few months ago. These were in clear wrapers from WF

    And thank you

Not roll I guess but can someone tell me why a 1971 S Circulated Kennedy half has 6 bids on it on EBAY and is up to $100 with 4 minutes to go? Red book lists it at $5. I have a couple I have pulled from roll seraching. Am I missing something?????

Can't you go and buy a 1971S proof set for less than that?

About $120 in loose and cwr's of halves... 2 rolls of 2010's. 10 bwr's quarters... nothing. Did pick up a 1953b $2 bill for face. It has a corner missing though.

Yes! The Kennedy lists for $5 and you get a unc proof set for less than $10 easy....Why I am trying to figure out what happened. I have a couple I found roll seraching so I may have to put one up and see lol. It was actually only 2 bidders going at each other so maybe it was just two very stubborn people...come to think of it, my wife was on the computer last night...better check the paypal account!

While cashing in; Pulled a silver dime and a silver quarter out of the rejects.

Box of dimes; 2 more silver dimes, including a BU '62.

Box of nickels; 4 Buffalo, 2 dateless, a VF '37, and an AU '25 (Numismedia lists AU between $26-$32)... the '25 is by far the nicest Buff I've pulled out of a box. I'll be going back to that bank to buy their other boxes of nickels ASAP.

Got what appears to be an original roll of '82's from the bank. First time that's ever happened. Yellowed paper and everything :p
Tryin to decide whether to bust it. Picked a couple unc from other rolls that have what looks like some doubling.

Merc, when you say you get silver from the reject slot...do you just walk up the the coinstar, check the tray, and there are coins in there? Or, you missed silver in your own dumb hoard?

    Latest box of halves

Picked up a box of halves ordered from Wells Fargo. Five or six rolls had marks from other CRH's on them, but I still managed to pull two 40%s (68D and 67), and five non-circulating halves (2001P, 2x2010D, 2*2008D). Not a bad box, but at least I didn't get skunked!
