    coinsuptheyang,
Love the name by the way.
Your Sacagewea dollars are really only worth a dollar in most cases. The one I think you're referring to is the 2001 proof coin from the annual mint proof sets. There's no way you're gonna find that in circulation.I had 2-300 of the Sacageweas and ended up spending them.Even worse,I admit that I took some of them to a coinstar machine and actually lost money.
You mentioned a bunch of coins from your Grandfather.Maybe we can help you figure out what they are worth and the best way to sell.

Unfortunately, the story on those (SBA,EISENHOWER,SACAGEWEASand JFK's) is the same. They're really only worth face value or slightly higher in some cases.

It's a looooooooong shot but check those Sac's for this reason: http://home.earthlink.net/~smalldollars/dollar/page20c.html
Those are worth some cash, doubt you'll find any though.

As for the rest, unless they are in mint condition, sadly the value is only face. Sorry. But I'd keep them anyways.

    Hello,
Check the Kennedy halfs the ones dayed 1964 are silver and the 65-70 are silver clad (40% silver). These are worth more than face value for the silver value.

There is always good news and bad news. The good news is your only 16. you could put those coins away for about 50 years and you'ld only be 66. The bad news is you would be 66 with a bunch of coins that are still worth face value. However, more good news is maybe in that future there would have been a really big confiscation by the government of all coins so what you now have will be worth a fortune in the future coin black market. The bad news is that you would now be a criminal for having them.
I suggest you check out a book store, the internet, coin shows or coin shops for a copy of a thing called The Red Book. Get a copy and read it. More bad news is you'll find out your coins are probably all just face value. More good news is you would have a great topic for a story in an English class if they wanted such a story. Sort of like show and tell in grade school.

Whoa there. Don't jump the gun and dump all those coins. First learn what coins are valuable. For instance there is an entire forum here bouts on error coins. You may have some. Learn what you have before you get rid of anything.

    Baaaaaaaaad criteria!

Some of those "shiny" ones are probably harshly cleaned, and thereby greatly devalued. :(

Among the "crappy" ones may be errors, or better dates. ;)

    Or not. [IMG]

The point simply being that the amount shine to a coin is a very poor basis for valuing it.
