Would this single common date coin grade as a solid Red or would it fall into the Red Brown grade ?
Next what would it grade ?

The first picture looks red brown but all of the others look red. I would go with red, nice coin! For a grade I would give it a 64-65

Based on those pictures, it looks MS65RD to me. Nice!

Hmm, there appears to be wear on the high points of the portrait (cheek, temple, jaw, and on Mr. Lincoln's coat)...

Assuming there is no horizontal scratch just above the date, about even with Lincoln's chin (picture problem?), then I would say you coin is a 64RD. There are a few too many abrasions and hits to qualify for 65RD, best seen by scrolling through the images.

I don't see any rub that would take it out of MS territory.

Nice Lincoln! The '37 isn't hard to come by. In PCGS plastic a 64RD would be worth $5, a 65RD maybe $20.

Thanks to all who have responded !
LTB - I think your are right on about the wear on the high spots of the Obverse. I really did not even see those in hand nor in photo until you pointed them out. They really look bad.
Hypothetically if this were an uncirculated better date coin (like a 1938-S or 1939-D) , but still not a key date ; would it be likely to rejected from grading by NGC or PCGS because of the wear or would they simply drop it down to the next category of AU.

It is kind of hard to make the color out on your pics. but I would guess red. I say it is a solid 65 with a shot at 66.

I saw the same thing in the pics, but I just assumed that was the high points pressing up against the plastic of the 2x2 making it look different.
