I have 4 first strike MS68DMPL and one MS69PL (Grand Canyon). Is 1300 a fair price for these or are they worth more? I got them recently from APMEX Thanks guys
I personally believe that you could get more for that set. http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-ATB-5-Ounc...46?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item336796c352 One single 5 ouncer is going for $335 on ebay. Thus, I believe that 1300 may be a little low. I would recommend keeping the set for the long term...Disclaimer--I am not an extremely knowledgeable collector. This is just my 2 cents.
yea i know i could get AT LEAST 1400 on ebay... problem with ebay is the fees... i would make less than 1300 cash... but ... as you can see... i am a new member and this is my first coin set so i just dont know... time to ask the experts!
My first thought would be that you paid too much for them. For one thing, APMEX sells these at close to retail, and since the price of silver has dropped recently, I'd be surprised if you'd get that kind of money for them. Besides, you're apparently one of a multitude of people who are suckered into the misbelief that "First Strikes" adds some added value to them. It doesn't! It's just a marketing gimmick that seasoned collectors ignore. Chris

Just an FYI, if you use eBay listings as a pricing guide, use the completed listings as those are items that have sold, prices in green. Asking price is not an accurate way to value coins. Besides which, that 5oz. round in the link is a re-listing as it didn't sell the first time around for that price of $335.
